We are dedicated to providing nurses the opportunity to be the best they can be. We support nurses who take the initiative to continue their education. Our Educational Assistance Programs provide employees, who work full time and want further their education, with reimbursement for the cost of educational courses upon successful completion of the course with grade of “C” or higher. Each employee can receive up to $3,000 each calendar year.
- Scholarship/Forgivable Loans - We are dedicated to providing opportunities for potential nursing employees to obtain the educational requirements to become a nurse. We provide up to $4,500.00 a year and a maximum of $9,000.00 for an educational degree. This scholarship is available to all applicants who are willing to commit their talents and skills upon completion of the nursing education degree as an employee of CMH. The exchange of scholarship to commitment is $1000.00 for every six months of satisfactory employment status.
- Auxiliary Scholarship - The hospital Auxiliary provides scholarships to nurses who are working toward additional education at Southside Virginia Community College or John Tyler Community College. The Auxiliary raises money though donations collected from the “Tree of Love” in which anyone may donate to the scholarship fund in the memory or in honor of a loved one. Donations are received year round. Nurses interested in applying for a scholarship can obtain an application from the Auxiliary. Scholarships are awarded each semester in the amount of $600.00 with a maximum of four scholarships per student. The recipient must maintain a GPA of 2.5 in order to qualify for the scholarship.
