History

Founded in 1954, VCU Community Memorial Hospital (CMH) is a nonprofit health care facility operated by a voluntary, elected Board of Directors. Planned and built by the people of Brunswick, Lunenburg and Mecklenburg Counties, CMH offers a full range of medical, surgical, and long term care services for residents of Southside Virginia and Northern North Carolina.

Now, VCU and CMH are working together for the health of our community.

On July 1, 2014, CMH ushered in a new day in healthcare with our affiliation with VCU Health System.  Through this alliance, the new VCU Community Memorial Hospital will offer access to more physicians, specialties, and services. The communities we serve will also benefit from the latest technology, medical innovations, research and education. Now VCU and CMH are working together for the health of our community.  It's all close to home and still delivered with warmth and compassion by your friends and neighbors.
